Make your Own Biscotti!

A couple of weeks ago, we blogged about how you can create heavenly coffee in your own home using some of the latest home brewing kit.

So for those of you who have been practicing your barista skills, you might like to try your hand at some biscotti baking for the perfect accompaniment to your brew.

These hard crunchy Italian biscuits were born to be dipped in freshly made coffee… So treat your friends or family – whether it’s for morning coffee or a nice after-dinner desert.

We’ve included a recipe below for traditional Italian almond biscotti.

Ingredients

4 eggs
3/4 cup sugar
2 tsp. vanilla essence
2 1/2 cups sieved flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
pinch of salt
1 cup flaked almonds

Method

1. Preheat oven to 325°F.
2. Beat eggs, sugar and vanilla essence until creamy and fluffy.
3. In separate bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda.
4. Mix the almonds, egg mixture and flour mixture together.
5. Make 1 or 2 log shapes on a greased baking sheet. Parchment paper is good too.
6. Bake at 325°F for 30 minutes then remove and slice to size.
7. Bake for 30 minutes more.
8. Reduce heat to 275°F and bake a final 30 minutes
9. Serve plain or dip in chocolate and serve.

Happy Baking!
