Wired and Inspired by Coffee

A mystery wrapped in brown,
A fragile enigma,

Enveloping the senses,
With the earthy steam
Of a bean.
The mind wrapped in warmth,
The essence of dark roast,
Heating from within,
The senses thrill,
With every lingering
Sniff of the aroma
In the mug
(Bean Peace – Drew K.)

“Creative lighter fluid”, “liquid inspiration”, “the milk of chess players and thinkers” – just a few of the ways the seductive bean has been described over the years. Among its many virtues, coffee has always been considered a drink of inspiration – oiling the cogs of cognition, lighting the sparks of creativity and prying open the floodgates of imaginative ideas.

Over the centuries, coffee has become the trusty companion of artists, writers, philosophers and musicians. As a result of those creative forces unleashed over a cup of coffee, the inspiring drink itself has become the subject of music, art and poetry, whilst singers from Ella Fitzgerald to Bob Dylan have paid direct homage to coffee in their works. There’s just something in its deep, dark complexity and uplifting aromas that gives it a rather romantic and evocative allure – one that resonates with the museful mind of the creative thinker or artist that resides, however deep, in all of us!

Now coffee houses have evolved to provide the warm, relaxed and inspiring environment for those creative seeds to grow. Here at Coffee #1 we’ve adorned our walls with art, inspiring quotes and shelves of books, whilst some of the best music from the most talented musicians of our age soothes your world weary senses. A relaxed and happy customer is what we’re aiming for, but if our delicious coffee, served within our wondrous walls, has been the inspiration for the budding writer, artist or musician in you, we’d love to hear about your creations!
