Autumn, We Salute You!

Some of us are mourning the departure of a summer that never really arrived… but here at Coffee #1 we think it’s time to cast off our seasonal blues and ‘fare forward, voyagers’ to discover the delights of the wonderful autumn that awaits!

So pull on your wellies, dig out some cosy woollens and head for the hills and woodlands (or just your local park!) and say a big ‘hello’ to Mother Earth. With a crunch in your step and the smell of damp leaves and wood smoke in the crisp autumn air, take in the glorious performance unfolding on nature’s stage… the trees parading their dazzling costumes of warm rusty reds, radiant golds and earthy browns against endless blue skies.

With nature at its most abundant, it’s a great time for a hedgerow harvest and for squirreling away nuts, fruits and seeds for the months ahead…

Elderberries can be made into a daily tonic that will keep away the colds over the winter.
Sloe berries can be gathered and fused with gin to make a sumptuous seasonal liqueur.

Apples will be ripe for scrumping (don’t get caught!) and pressing into your own organic juice.
Pumpkin Seeds roasted or toasted and sprinkled with salt and butter makes a delicious savoury snack.
Wild Mushrooms are popping their heads up around fields and woodland ready to be plucked (make sure you pick the right ones!) and fried alongside a hearty breakfast of eggs,
bacon and bangers.

And after a day out in the elements, all ‘cold nosed’ and ‘rosy cheeked’, what could be better than to drop in to your local Coffee #1 and cozy up with some wonderfully warming treats that are sure to satisfy your autumnal appetite. Try a delicious Pumpkin Latte with sweet warming spices, guaranteed to keep your cheeks ‘a-glowing’! Or maybe try one of our faithful favourites… a steamy mug of Hot Apple and Cinnamon, topped with a sneaky swirl of fresh cream…deeeee- licious! And what better to accompany these lovely autumn treats with? A few warm, crumbly, wonderful Welshcakes of course!

Welcome back autumn, our old and colourful friend…Coffee #1 salutes you!
