Our loyalty cards: An apology
We just wanted to take a moment to explain an issue that has arisen involving our loyalty cards.
In December, we discovered that a large number of forged cards had been passing through our stores, resulting in hundreds of free drinks being redeemed. On top of this, we had several card stampers stolen.
To try to sort this problem, we decided to phase out the old design and bring in a new one for the new year. Posters were put up in stores and we informed customers in-store of the change. To resolve the issue of forged cards as quickly as possible, we decided to give our customers a month’s notice to use up and redeem their old stamps before the new one came into being in January.
To help those customers who weren’t aware of the change, we tried to implement a rollover system that would allow old stamps to count on new cards. Unfortunately, it’s come to our attention that this didn’t always happen effectively, and for that we’re very sorry.
So to ensure that this doesn’t happen anymore, from today we will be accepting all stamps, whether they’re on the old or new card. Hopefully this will draw a line under the matter.
Once again, we’re really sorry if we caused any upset or confusion for any customer. We hope to see you all in a Coffee#1 store soon.
