Something a little bit different…
We like things to be a little bit rustic here at Coffee #1. We also like to support local businesses. So when we discovered this gem of a place, the Bristol Wood Recycling Project, we knew we had found something special!
Situated in central Bristol, it’s hard to believe this place exists just below Temple Meads station! A lumberyard brimming with different cuts and shades of wood, this place runs on the help of volunteers, generous donations and recycled wood.
We were so inspired by this project we had a little idea: to help create something unique in our cosy Coffee #1 in Thornbury, we are going to create a kind of wooden wallpaper, utilizing all these different textures and shades of wood!
Wooden slats that made up crates which carried granite in South America and India are going to be
intermingled with old Victorian floorboards. These will take pride of place in our coffee house, being reused and put to good use!
A big thanks goes out to Andrew, one volunteer from the Bristol Wood Recycling Project who helped to put all this wood together for us. We hope you will all pop down and see the finished masterpiece once Thornbury is up and running!
